Taping is used to support a weak body part by reducing movements,
which may cause overtax of the weak area.
This means
that if the body part can be used in normal way without to much pain
then taping is a possibility if the player still wants to be active.
But if the activity continues to be painful, then the taping is not
the solution and the activity must stop. The pain is the body's way
to inform you, that something is wrong and that you have to act accordingly.
If the activity continues it will easily make things worse.
Pay attention to the fact, that acute injuries often are followed
by inside bleedings and accumulation of fluid, which will cause a swelling.
A tight taping here may cause serious circulation disturbances. If
a player gets a blow on the finger it will be a bad idea to wrap tape
around the sore joint. That joint will most certainly swell and the
tape must be removed very fast because the finger will start prickling
and then become numb. That means that the blood circulation in the finger
has stopped. If the player is so focused on the game that these signals
are not noticed there will be a serious problem
Therefore: Never put tape on acute injuries. If the finger must be
protected a taping shown under Taping - Fingers) can be used. That kind
of taping will only support the injured finger.
