Area defense is maybe the most difficult. In this type of defense several players are involved in a co-operation, which demands co-operation, communication and understanding of the game.
The defense must be able to foresee what the attackers might do or are building up to do and take measures against their intentions, for instance by following a running in or crossing player without the defense gets cramped, but is still maintaining a secure width in the defense.
